Health benefits of eating garlic

Garlic is a herb used as a food flavoring.

It is also popular for its medicinal properties and it is used to treat various health issues.

Garlic contains allicin, which is a sulphur compound that gives garlic its distinctive taste and odor.

It is said to be source of garlic’s healing abilities.

The method of preparation changes the level of allicin in garlic; crushing fresh garlic cloves releases the most allicin while various cooking methods destroys this healing ingredient.

Garlic is used to treat numerous health issues including

It is also used to treat diabetes, allergies, headaches, stomachaches, coughs, fever and numerous other ailments.

The extracted oil from garlic cloves is used to treat various fungal infections including ringworm and athlete’s foot.

Garlic is used to boost the immunity due to its antioxidant properties and can be used to treat the common cold. When it is eaten fresh it aids in recovery from ailments and prevents infections.

You can also consume garlic by making garlic tea: steep fresh chopped garlic cloves in hot water and drink, honey can be added as a sweetener.

There have been some claims that fresh garlic can also be used to treat and prevent certain types of cancers, but this is unproven.

Trace minerals found are calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc and selenium.

Garlic can be used to enhance the flavor of various dishes.

It can be added to oils and used as spreads and used in the preparation of sauces, chilies, pastries and desserts.
